This is driving your decision making...

Kate Harmony Season 1 Episode 23

Hello dear Soul,

In today’s journal entry I talk about what’s driving our decision making.

In life we can feel like we do things we didn’t want to do, we make decisions that we look back on and think why did I do that? We are frustrated and feel like we’re out of control.

Personality typology can help us to understand why we make the decisions we do and can help us to make better decisions for ourselves.

At PersonalityHacker.com, Joel and Antonia have a metaphor for our personality which is very useful. They call it the car model. There are 4 seats in the car: the driver, the co-pilot, the 10-year old and the 3-year old. Each of us has a different combination of cognitive functions that sit in each of these seats.

Without knowing about personality typology it can feel like there’s a one-size-fits-all car that we either drive skillfully or unskillfully and it can feel like riding bumper cars! So instead, we can get to know what cognitive functions are seated in what position in our car and thus become more skilled at driving our mental “car”. We can then set goals or “destinations” and consciously drive towards them with fewer breakdowns and detours.

I would love to have you along for the journey to explore how we can drive our personality with more skill, so we can help ourselves and others to thrive!

Blessings,

Kate
